Web design that earns the referral
Akos Construction was already doing million-dollar work. Their website just hadn't caught up.

Challenge
A proven contractor with an online presence that didn't show it
Isaac and his team at Akos Construction had proven they could handle complex, high-end projects: million-dollar custom homes and large-scale remodels. The problem was that their online presence didn't reflect what they were actually capable of.
What wasn't working
01
Diluted focus
Navigation options were split across service offerings, diluting the core service offering.
02
Buried work
Strong photography with no structure to show it off.
03
No positioning on the homepage, nothing to tell visitors why Akos was the right fit.
04
Sustainability certifications invisible to the clients who would care most.
05
Nothing to help architects pre-qualify Akos before reaching out.
Approach
Strategy before design
Akos came in with more detail than most clients: a clear picture of what they wanted, and a solid logo and brand colors they wanted to keep. I ran them through a page-by-page planning exercise to make sure the structure served their audience, not just their wishlist. The visual direction built on what they already had: a neutral palette that kept the focus on the photography and felt right for the design-oriented clients they were after.
Solution
Design that reflects expertise
Navigation was streamlined around their core business, with home building front and center and recording studios accessible through a project category filter rather than a dedicated nav item. The project pages are the centerpiece, with editorial layouts built around the photography, subtle fade animations, and project meta that credits the architects and designers they collaborate with. A process page and highlighted certifications address how architects evaluate contractor fit, and sustainability gets its own homepage section toward the bottom, visible without leading with it.
Impact
Premium work attracting premium clients
The first year brought significant growth in architect referrals and revenue. The pipeline shifted with it, consistently filled with the high-end work they'd been going after and with room to pass on what didn't fit.
01
Referral Partner Growth
- 50% increase in architect referrals
- Multiple architects specifically cite website messaging as decision factor
- Systematic attraction vs. occasional referrals
02
Project Quality Transformation
- Pipeline now primarily $1M+ projects
- 25–30% revenue growth in first year
- Consistent premium work with option to pass on smaller projects
03
Market Positioning Shift
- Architects proactively reaching out vs. having to prove credibility
- Competing on fit and capability vs. price
- Website doing pre-qualification work before conversations
No matter how someone finds us, the website does a really good job of reinforcing who we are and what we do, and why we're the right fit for higher-end, design-oriented projects. The professional credibility it gives us has helped big time.
